Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Bottle
Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Bottle
Getting the first few feeds right are critical to the overall performance of the lamb or kid and the Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Bottle is a great tool to help you achieve this.
Perfectly balanced to reduce arm fatigue when bottle feeding, it is fitted with the Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Training Teat which uses a combination of controlled flow with a softer rubber formulation for training young or weak animals.
The teat design encourages the correct suckling action so lambs and kids produce enough saliva to boost immunity.
How to use
How to use
The Milk Bar™ Lamb and Kid Bottle is designed to be used in two feeding positions.
Kneeling behind the lamb or kid. This position is ideal for young or weak animals. By positioning the lamb/ kid between your knees, , you can gently hold them in position to reduce struggling.
Standing in front of the lamb/ kid. Once lambs and kids are feeding confidently, you can switch position and stand in front of them. This prepares her for drinking from a fence hanging feeding.
After a few feeds, your lamb or kid should be ready to move onto a fence hanging feeder fitted with Milk Bar™ Teats.
Changing to the more controlled flow of the Milk Bar™ Teat safeguards them against the harmful effects of fast feeding.
How do I change the bottle teat?
The softer compound makes it easier to pull the training Teat from the bottle.
Grip the bottle with your knees.
By hand or with pliers, pull the teat firmly to the side, or using a sharp blade, cut the teat at the base.
Place the new teat into the hole and pull through. Be sure check the teat is aligned correctly and the slit is vertical.
Cleaning
Cleaning
Milk is a difficult substance to clean off of surfaces. You need hot water to remove the fat, but the heat can bake the protein onto the surface. Using warm water to get rid of the protein leaves a film of fat. When fats and proteins stick to the surface of equipment, they form a biofilm, a nutrient-rich layer in which bacteria grow.
The biofilm protects bacteria from the cleaning process and results in equipment that appears clean but has bacteria on the surface. The cleaning process not only needs to remove fat and protein from surfaces but prevent the formation of a biofilm.
Made from renewable, high quality natural rubber, Milk Bar™ Teats are kinder to the environment. Natural rubber absorbs the milk fat and protein which can cause the teats to become softer and start to drip. The milk flow can become faster, decreasing calf performance.
Recommended cleaning: Use Milk Bar™ Detergent, a dishwashing detergent, or any other non-chlorine/ chloride dairy detergent twice a week. Important! Chlorine/chloride based dairy detergents degrade natural rubber which reduces teat performance and voids any warranty.
Rinse your teats with water.
Use a gentle detergent, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not use Chlorine/chloride based dairy detergents!
Using a brush, lightly scrub the outside of the teats making sure to bend the teats. By bending the teats, any milk gets pushed back inside the feeder so the detergent can make contact with the inside of the teat wall.
